DST is changing - Bus Class Web Hosting - What is in a name? - IE 7 more issues

Coming to you from Stratton, Vermont

It is -3 outside and 700-800 people are about to walk in to register for a 3 day program. There are a number of laptops with printers ready to printer out badges for all attendees. What would you do if one of those laptops did not print?

We are here supporting one of our clients. With all the organization required for this event, the last thing they wanted to concern themselves with is the technical items. As it turns out there were issues on two occasions. Each time we resolved the issue within 15 minutes with no stress to the client.

Do you have an event out of the office for which you need technical support? If so, let us know and we will see how we can help.

Daylight Savings Time is changing!

Since 1966, most of the United States has observed Daylight Saving Time from at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April to 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. Beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March (March 11, 2007) and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November (November 4, 2007).

How will this affect me?

Our computers are pre-programmed to change the date automatically based on the DST we have had for years. If updates are not applied successfully you may face one or all of the following issues:

  • Your Outlook calendar will be an hour off - making you an hour late for all meetings.
  • Your Palm/Treo/Blackberry will also be an hour off.
  • Emails will be received an hour into the future (due to the time being incorrect)
  • You may be locked out of your server due to time discrepancies

Let Swiftec help you with a seamless transition to the new DST rules. Contact us to arrange to make this a non-event in your business.

Business Class Web Hosting

Almost all the Web Hosting available today is SHARED hosting.  That means you are sharing a server with thousands of other people. If a single person sends amounts of spam, the entire server can be blacklisted - which means no one on that server can send email for 1 day to 7 days.

Swiftec has DEDICATED hosting.  We have a server just for our clients!  Our server has dual Xeon processors, automatic backups, redundant power supplies, triple redundant building power, and redundant OC-48 (very fast) connections to the internet.

We can host your site as well as help you update your site with new information. For examples of our clients - click here

Make a name for yourself

What is in a name? A name is your identity.

Do you want to be xyzcompany@hotmail.com or First.Last@yourcompany.com?

How large is a company if the only use a single email address? Your email tells people something about who you are and how serious your are about business. We can help you with email accounts and spam filtering.

Internet Explorer 7 - new issues

Just as we thought it was safe to go back into the water (with Internet Explorer), we are finding more and more issues with Internet Explorer 7. Customers who use customized web sites may have issues using IE 7. The best option is to downgrade to IE 6. Not sure how to do this, let us know and we will do it for you
